Fire Extinguishers are your first line of defense against a fire, so at schools it’s particularly important that they’re always ready for service at a moments notice.
With our highly trained engineers and top quality equipment, Blazequel is the right choice to supply and maintain the essential fire fighting equipment at your school.
Your Fire Alarm is essential to ensure the speedy detection of a fire risk and ensure the safe evacuation of everyone onsite. However, it’s also really important to ensure that careful consideration is given to prevent false alarms or accidental damage, which can happen all too easily in the schooling environment.
Whether you need a service and maintenance package or a whole new fire alarm system, Blazequel can provide you with the service and the peace of mind that you need.
We often carry out works at schools during the holiday periods. We understand the need to make your fire protection as hassle free as possible so always go the extra mile to make things easy for you!
You can carry out your own fire risk assessment if you are sufficiently competent, and feel confident in doing so. However, for peace of mind and convenience, most of our clients arrange for our specialist assessors who have a lifetime of fire safety experience to carry out this service for them.
Our Fire Risk Assessments have been follow the recommended statutory format, but have been totally redesigned to make them ultra-easy to use and read. Key action points are summarized at the end of the assessment, allowing you to sign them off as completed to ensure that nothing important is missed, whilst the unique ‘traffic light’ design makes it easy to scan through your assessment and spot areas that may need further attention.

Fire Training is particularly important at Schools, where it is essential that everyone onsite can be swiftly and safely evacuated in the event of a fire. In a fire, seconds can make the difference between life or death, and a calm influence can make the difference between an orderly, safe evacuation or panic.
We can customize any of our training packages around your requirements, but offer two key levels of fire safety training:
Fire Safety Induction Training covers the fundamental principles of fire safety, fire evacuation and fire fighting. It’s designed to give all members of staff a grounding in fire safety to ensure they know how to respond correctly in the event of a fire.
Fire Marshal Training is for the designated Fire Marshals onsite who are responsible for managing the evacuation of the building in the event of a fire, leading personnel in their marshal ‘zone’ to safety, checking off the registers to ensure that no-one is missing and calling the Fire and Rescue service if necessary.

Like many others in the fire industry, we agree with the insurers on this subject. There is a compelling argument to support the installation of sprinklers in most schools.
The government reversal of policy on making fire sprinklers obligatory for new build schools was a big mistake. Sprinklers are reliable and cost effective, particularly when part of a new build project, for a long term asset with an intrinsic value to the community that outweighs even its material cost.
Fire damage to a school has cost implications which aren’t covered by an insurance payout. It can have a profound impact on the education of students, and local communities.
A common myth about sprinklers is that when they activate, all the heads will go off simultaneously – this only happens in the movies….. Sprinkler systems have heat activated heads, which go off independently when triggered by excessive heat – just like a standard head detector. Typically, the maximum number of heads to trigger in a fire incident will be 4-6 heads.
Blazequel can assist with all aspects of design, installation and maintenance of sprinkler systems for schools. Contact us today to discuss your requirements in more detail.
